Baby Steps to Frugal Living

Creak. Creak. Stick. Stick. That’s the sound my sandals made as I walked across the kitchen floor. It was yucky. I couldn’t avoid it any more. Time to get the mop out.

When I reached under the kitchen sink, I found no floor cleaner. {Sigh.} But I spied the baking soda on the counter. There was just enough left from eldest boy’s latest science experiment. I did an internet search for “homemade floor cleaner.” Up came a basic recipe for a cleaner made with white vinegar and warm water. Just to please eldest boy, I added the baking soda for foaming effect.

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children – preschoolers to high schoolers. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

  1. When I have to wipe my bare feet on the mat in front of the oven or the sink, I look backwards and think – Oh. I really should mop the floor. ;) After a week and about 20 miles on the beach – I can’t even tell you how sandy our floors are topped off with orange marmalade. ;)
