Southern Cheese Straws Recipe

My cousin, Jessica, made these delicious cheese straws for our cousin’s Bridesmaids Luncheon. Cheese straws are a simple pleasure, come in all sorts of shapes and designs and are a tradition in the south. What would a ladies luncheon be without cheese straws?

Jessica shares her recipe:

: Cheese Straws
  1. 2 sticks butter, softened
  2. 16oz sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  3. 1 t. salt
  4. 3 cups plain flour
  5. 1/4 t. Cayenne pepper, more depending on how hot. I only used a fourth.
  1. Cream butter and cheese.
  2. Add dry ingredients. Form small balls and flatten.
  3. Press with fork.
  4. Place on sprayed pan.
  5. Bake at 350 for 20~25 min or more depending on how crisp. Her note: I baked like 12 min I think.
  6. This served the 20 ladies at the luncheon with plenty of leftovers.
