Barbie Circus

~Another favorite from the archives in honor of the third blogoversary of Hodgepodge this month. This one, about Middle Girl, back when she was just six…

Ken was the strong man. He wore Dora the Explorer’s pants and lifted the tissue box. The clown told colorful knock-knock jokes. The Barbie radio played the songs I have heard for many years now while Ken and Barbie twirled like the best of Dancing with the Stars. A mini American Girl doll walked the purple tight rope, formerly a jump rope, from the dollhouse to the baby gym. A green, sparkly Barbie trained not only a dog but a cat and a sheep too. The lion, old as he was (originally belonging to me and part of the Wizard of Oz collection), was amazingly tamed.

Cheers from the spectators! The best circus I’ve ever seen thanks to an imaginative six-year-old.

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children – preschoolers to high schoolers. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.
