About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

  1. Elizabeth Bovender says:

My biggest challenge is getting my kids back into a routine…. plus juggling my at home business along with teaching them…

  2. My biggest challenge is incorporating the next one to reach school age and occupying the little one (what worked when he was 1 doesn’t necessarily work now that he’s 2).

  3. Yes, just getting back into a good, solid routine. I think once we have really incorporated a lifestyle of learning, it won’t be a big deal. What throws us off is taking our road trip each year. Once we get home, it’s still like we are in vacation mode! :) Thank you!

  4. My biggest challenge is getting my teen out of bed in the morning. This year my goal is to relax more and not stress over school.

  5. Biggest challenge = getting the other 7 people in my house to go back to following my schedule for school as we buckle down a bit more during this part of the year.

Easier time of it tip = call family meetings on Sunday afternoons to talk about an overview of the week and allow children to have input about their education and plans for some of the days.

  6. My biggest challenge is TV. My kids love to relax in front of the TV and I love the quiet time so I take advantage of it too much.

  7. This is our first year homeschooling, so I a very excited to see everyone’s tips.

  8. My biggest challenge is working around all the extracurricular activities.

  9. Just getting it all together is a struggle for me. I have five kids and one on the way and everyone knows how hard it is sometimes to get everyone busy again.
