It’s in the happy habits that already exist in our home that I always find freedom. I hear that children thrive on a routine. I believe it’s important for adults too. You see, the day just goes differently when I don’t have my morning coffee.
Early in parenting, my husband and I built a daily habit of reading to our child. We saw how easily our eldest learned from us at home.
Then our family grew. The atmosphere was a bit more hectic. I often felt overwhelmed. I needed strategies. I wanted practical routines that worked for my family.
I started asking. I gleaned knowledge from the families who have gone before us on this homeschooling journey.
Guess what I found out? Your child will learn more by watching you – how you handle a tough situation, how you make a decision, how you love the Lord. Your children will pick up on your habits.
In the end, when all the dishes are put away, the beds are made – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising our children is a God-given privilege. And folks, the time is short.
