Searching for Joy

Searching for Joy

Hello, there!  I’m back!  I’ve missed being part of this space the last couple months, and I’m excited to join you all again.  My family and I have successfully and safely moved across the country, and seen God’s gracious provision for our family every step of the way.  Rather than tell the stories all over again, feel free to check out my personal blog to

Time. . .How to Make a Schedule

Time. . .How to Make a Schedule

Time. . .it is precious, it goes by way too quickly, and we only have a certain amount of it.  How am I using my time?  Am I using it to glorify God?  {So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31} A few months ago, I was quite convicted by the way I

Simple Christmas

Simple Christmas

Simplicity.  Simple things, simple joys, simple beauty.  It’s what I crave right now.  I guess it’s understandable, since we sold/donated/gave away almost everything we owned when we moved back in September.  I am finding that I have a desire to keep life that way. . .simple. When you look closely enough, what beauty there is in the simple things of life!  The steam curling upward

Grace for Ordinary Days

Winter can be a dreary time of year.  Lots of rain or snow make the sun disappear for days at a time.  Little irritations can seem so much bigger than they really are. The promise of spring is ahead, but just out of reach.  And the kids.  They just want to be outside!  (How do you help a two year old understand that he cannot

Continuing the Habit of Being Daily in the Word

So it’s February already. How are you doing on that daily Bible reading plan you committed to at the beginning of January?  I so appreciated Heidi’s post on the Habit of Daily Bible Enrichment at the beginning of January. . . I’m sure you did too.  How it is going, though, seriously?  Have you kept up with it, or have you been struggling? At the

Habits for the Hard Times

“You can search for what you want, but you must accept what God gives.” This was part of a conversation my Mom and I had recently. The last few weeks have shown me some of the more difficult side of life.  There’s the friend who lost her husband of many decades just 12 days before Christmas.  There’s the husband  trying to provide for his family,

Letting Go. . .

Stuff. . .we all have it. . .some of us collect it more than others.  I happen to have my share of stuff I’ve collected and love.  A few months ago, I ran across a couple blog posts where people were selling most of their possessions and making a major move.  At the time, I thought, wow, good for them, but I don’t think I

Watermelon Popsicles Recipe

Do you love watermelon as much as I do?  Well, we discovered another yummy way to eat it!  I try to keep my family eating as healthy as possible. . .and in summertime, that means making our own popsicles.  My four-year-old asked (a few times) for watermelon popsicles; so I finally tried to make them, and they are the most beloved popsicle flavor so far!
