Searching for Joy

You may be in a tough season of life right now, but in the midst of life’s trials, one can always be looking, searching for joy.

Hello, there!  I’m back!  I’ve missed being part of this space the last couple months, and I’m excited to join you all again.  My family and I have successfully and safely moved across the country, and seen God’s gracious provision for our family every step of the way.  Rather than tell the stories all over again, feel free to check out my personal blog to

Practical Prayer

Practical prayer - a guide for simple prayers as you go about your day and finding freedom in making prayer the foundation of your day.

The community helpers puzzle. Its pieces dumped in the floor, again. I find myself frustrated, again. Frustrated to pick up the pieces and frustrated we were all sick. The Habit of Giving Thanks

Anyone who has ever opened the pages of a Bible knows that God wants us to be thankful in all circumstances. The Bible is full of references that instruct us to be thankful. One of the more popular verses that comes to mind is from Philippians. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known

Every Word

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written; ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” This year God is calling me to draw close to him through his word. Not just the ones I like, the comforting, sheltering words, but Every Word. Many times I find myself disagreeing with something in the Bible, I don’t

The Greater Work

Icebergs, what in the world do they have to do with what’s going on in your life?  My husband, Bob, had surgery and developed an infection. We were praying earnestly for his healing.  As I was crying out to the Lord one night, He used the illustration of an iceberg to begin revealing what was really going on in our lives. You can only see

Nature versus nurture

Nature versus nurture. It’s been long debated by psychologists whether you’re the way you are because of nature (your genes) or by nurture (your environment). The debate will probably go on until the Lord comes back. Have you thought about the nature versus nurture debate in regard to your parenting? Whether or not you let nature take its course or if you nurture your children,
