Chocolate SunButter Rice Krispy Treats

A while back, there was a little bakery that sold peanut butter Rice Krispy treats. Now just that is a treat itself. Even at $1 a piece. The topper was – those krispy treats were topped with chocolate!

So, the children and I set out to recreate this specialty with our favorite SunButter.

We simply followed the directions in the recipe on the SunButter site, Krispy on a Stick.

Except that we poured the mixed up SunButter and krispy goodness into a 9×13 pan. (Notice that we only filled half the pan. Middle Girl decided we needed some without chocolate. So we made a separate pan with the other half.)

We let the krispies set in the fridge for a few minutes while we melted the chocolate chips in the microwave. Then, we poured that chocolate on top, spread it around and put it back in the fridge.

SunButter, chocolatey, krispy deliciosity! Here again is the recipe we followed on the SunButter site: Krispy on a Stick

Allergy-friendly cooking fun with children. Thanks to SunButter.

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

    Hello Tricia,
I want to commend you on your choice – your children! I am now a Grandmother, and was unable to take your path when my children were small. (Now in their 40’s – the time FLIES by, believe me!) You have made a choice that many of us would have chosen had we a choice – my children’s father had left and I was the provider. I know several people these days from church and other relationships that homeschool. I have been so impressed with the kids. They are not only better educated, obviously a testimony to their (and your) commitments, but are genuinely wonderful people. Keep up the good work – I know the job you have chosen is not always easy, but I’m sure it is always rewarding. Keep smiling, Kathy

Well Kathy you just blessed my socks off (and I really was wearing socks today because it’s a bit chilly in my neck of the woods). I agree that the time flies! How is my eldest already 14? Homeschooling is a path, a journey that the Lord put us on. Yes, there are hard days but all is worth it. I would not have it any other way. Thank you for taking the time to bless me today. I sure am smiling!! ~Tricia
