About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

1Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.

2While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

6Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

7Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:

8The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:

9The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.

My pastor had shared with our ladies’ group… P-PLANTER for whatever is Praiseworthy, Pure, Lovely, Admirable, Noble, Trustworthy, Excellent, and Right: think on these things. When my sisters and I are in the midst of a rough time, we remind each other about the P-PLANTER. It’s like our code for reminding each other about God’s peace He provides in the world around us. This was shared at a young ladies’ retreat, the day my one sister miscarried her first baby. God knew we needed to hear this on that day especially!

As we are in the middle of an adoption, taking time to breath seems like the most unnatural thing to do right now. So much to do and yet if I don’t, take time to rest in my Father’s arms, I’m not a going to be a good mom or wife. Remembering to sit and breath and take in His goodness in all the chaos is worth it.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
