Pinterest Makeover

Pinterest is the ultimate visual bookmarking tool and I have had lots of fun using it for organizing all kinds of ideas and inspirations. While I have loved! the recipes on Pinterest ,  I would have a hard time narrowing them down to a few, so I decided to spotlight recent finds I pinned for what we have dubbed the Learning Lab (aka the schoolroom). You don’t have to be a homeschooler to appreciate these tips. They would be great for kids rooms, play rooms and more.

Our Learning Lab is on the lower level

(loving all the alliteration 🙂 ) and I would

be thrilled to reach it via these

storybook stairs.

Goodbye carpet, hello classics!

Incidentally, this was my very first pin.

Love it!

Continuing the literary theme, books runneth over in our LL and I am always looking for creative ways to store them. These are two very different  options ~ one involves a little work (where do I find a giant wooden spool?) and the  other a simple fix of some wire baskets on a shelf.

Art is another thing that is overflowing in the LL. I love these super simple clips for hanging artwork or school work.  There’s a great tutorial on the site formaking it and I think it costs under $5 if you use leftover paint.

I love this little desk idea for an art corner that can stay set up for impromptu masterpiece-making. The shelf and clips are perfect for displaying said masterpieces.

These last two are actually my own pictures that I’m including so that I can pin them 🙂 These are bread boxes from Target that I bought for each of the kids’ desks to store all their supplies.  For school, I have color-coded the kids and was thrilled that there were boxes in each of their colors.

This year, we’re adding a yellow one for the kindergartner. These keep their desktops nice and neat and their supplies are within arms reach. The best part is – I got them on clearance!

Now it’s your turn! If you’re on Pinterest, do you have a board for a room you’d like to makeover? If you’re not on Pinterest, is there a room you’d like to makeover that Pinterest might help you with?

Kerri always longed for a life of adventure with the man of her dreams. What she never dreamed was that it would be with seven kids in tow. Most days, the adventure consists of finishing all the laundry before it’s time to start over again, figuring out what that mysterious odor is, finding a meal that all nine mouths enjoy, and filling minds and hearts with the grace and knowledge of Jesus.  Let’s see Bear Grylls survive that! In between welcoming a new one into the world and preparing one to go out in it, she occasionally manages  to string together a few complete sentences here.

Love them all… and I’ve only seen a couple. How did I miss so much? And I love your breadboxes! So much cuter than my plastic tubs.

When I showed Eric the bookshelf made from the giant spool, I asked him the very same question. “Where on Earth would we get a giant spool?” He said, “duh, that is what they use for cable, wire, etc…” So Home Depot maybe? He said that Greystone or ATT might have also have them & give them to you for free 🙂

I was wondering if I could find a cast-off from the cable company 🙂

And Target seems to have the breadboxes every year in slightly different colors, so if they’re not there now, they might be soon!

Wow! Love it all!! Yes, I am ready to rip up carpet for those stairs. I’m thinking the foyer because it is right next to our learning lab 🙂 I adore the bread boxes idea. Gonna pin that right now. Thank you. Such fun to browse all you ladies’ boards.

Your foyer would be a fabulous place for these stairs!

I just got on Pinterest last week and am finding it pretty addicting! I saw the staircase and the book spool on there and thought they were both fantastic. I’ll pin your breadboxes too. 🙂

I LOVE those steps – I’m so sad that I don’t have any stairs that I can do that too. I just recently set up a pinterest account and haven’t really used it yet – thank you for showing how cool it can be – and I just might have to pin that art corner to my own board 🙂
