Sibling Christmas Gifts

The children draw names each year to give each other gifts. I let them go ahead and open them this afternoon. See, I learned from last year. It had been the custom to open sibling gifts on Christmas Eve. Well, last year Hodgepodgedad and I told the children they could open gifts Christmas Eve morning. Wrong idea. They came in at 5 a.m. just like they do on Christmas morning! Two mornings in a row is not recommended for parental Christmas cheer.
So today after lunch, I explained that they could exchange gifts after quiet time. When jurisdictions and bedrooms were picked up.

Youngest gave big sister a Do Hard Things t-shirt. One she’d wanted since the conference. Rebel with a Cause 1 Tim 4:12, which is:
12Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in manner of living, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Now they have a whole week to play with and enjoy the gifts they picked out for each other!

Do your children draw names at Christmas too?

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.
