Georgia Civil War Field Trips and Resources

“I was reading the Gettysburg Address – that big, long speech by Abraham Lincoln. It was amazing.” ~ my 2nd grader This homeschool year we’ve been studying the Civil War as part of our Tapestry of Grace studies. It just so happens that 2014 is the 150th anniversary of the Civil War here on Georgia soil. There are several commemorative events and activities that will

Family Holiday Fun Around Atlanta

This past weekend, we went as a family to the Georgia Aquarium. We have annual passes so that we can go at a moment’s notice to enjoy the exhibits. We also had a fun time posing by the life-sized holiday ornaments at Pemberton Place in front of The World of Coca-Cola. More from Pemberton Place below… The Georgia Aquarium But first, The Georgia Aquarium. Since

Homeschool Electives and Extracurricular for Multiple Ages

This has been the week of all things elective and extracurricular. Just how – homeschooling multiple ages of children? A peek into our busy week… Well, of course there was math, language arts, science and the rest in there. But it was a bit overshadowed by the greatness of field trips. Top 10 Things to Do in Atlanta for Labor Day Weekend

We love going to local World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and Stone Mountain. Monthly Outdoor Hour Challenges newsletter – a free download for Handbook of Nature Study subscribers. We had peeked at the nature study grid by the back door before we headed out. So

A Capitol Field Trip

Nana invited us down to visit her at work. She works under that golden dome, at the Georgia State Capitol. It was a perfect time to go because the capitol was all decorated for Christmas. Also, it wasn't crowded at all and Nana gave us our own personal tour. It was a capitol field trip.
