You are here: Home / Homeless Habits / The Heart of my life should be a Heart of Worship

January 9, 2012 by: Angie Bannister

The Heart of my life should be a Heart of Worship

There is a beautiful song called the Heart of Worship, and the chorus goes like this………

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus
Its all about you
Jesus

We were singing this song in church last week, and as we sang the chorus I just kept thinking, this was a description of what my life should be as I live out my relationship with the FATHER that I have through JESUS CHRIST. Let me change the words of the chorus just a wee bit, so you can see where I am coming from.

My life is coming back to the heart of worship
because my life is all about you
All about you, JESUS
I’m sorry LORD for the thing I’ve made my life
When my life should be all about you
Yes, my life is all about you JESUS

The heart of my life, the essence, the meaning, the purpose of my life should be worship of FATHER GOD through JESUS CHRIST. To me worship at its core is complete submission, devotion, and intense love to and for GOD, in your heart and in your physical life.

My life; and all choices that come with it day by day should be made with worship of GOD in mind. A life of worship will play out differently for us all but at its core it will be the same. Here is a verse that I think sums up how a life of worship will look.

And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. Col. 3:17

If we do everything we do in the name of JESUS and in dependence on HIM, than we are living a life of worship. If I worship GOD in being a wife, a mom, a home school teacher, a friend, children’s church teacher, a blog writer, etc. than I will be the best in these areas that I can be. I will be a light in this world, I will be an encourager, a helper and a witness for the LORD.

If you belong to the LORD, let your life come back to the heart of worship, let it be all about HIM, all about HIM!! Let your choices, your actions and even your perspective come from a HEART of WORSHIP.

Below is the all the lyrics of the song ‘A Heart of Worship’

When the music fades
And all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless your heart

I’ll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the ways things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I’m weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath

I’ll bring You more than just a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus

Its all about you
Jesus

Yep! Why is that so hard sometimes? I was in church yesterday singing a beautiful song for Jesus. Was I singing for Jesus? Nope. I was irritated by the way someone in my row was singing, I was irritated by, and quietly making fun of, one of the song leaders, and I was quite annoyed with the way they kept playing the chorus over and over again. Our AWANA program starts back up this week and I am almost dreading it. We have Growth Group tonight after a month off, and I am dreading it. My heart is NOT in the right place.
I am going to quit confessing now and go and listen to this song! Thanks for this post! I have you on Pulse on my i-pad and you are one of the sites I check in on in the evenings. This is the first time I’ve read one of your posts in the morning and I have to say this was a good start to a morning! 🙂

    Jenny,

Thank you for sharing! Your honesty is inspiring. That is a very good place to be; when we can be honest with ourselves, honest with GOD, than we are on the way to HIM creating a clean heart and rigth spirit with-in us. My prayers are with you!!

Thank you Angie for sharing. It doesnt come naturally to make our lives all about Him, its a continual battle, so many voices calling in different directions. Praying that this can be true in my heart as well.
