We started our week off with the winning news of state fair entries! When we went to pick up our art entries we found the girls’ flower entries had been awarded top prizes. Littlest girl’s rose won a blue ribbon. And Middle Girl’s hydrangea won a blue ribbon, the overall youth award and Best of Show! Wow. As you can tell from the photo, we were all just a little excited 🙂
Nature Study: Cobweb Hunt and How to Draw a Web
Science: with AiG Human Body – We learned about the anatomy of the ear and tested our inner ears by spinning – then trying to balance. The older two learned about the scientific method in their Apologia Biology studies – timely for science fair projects! (Eldest boy reading his lesson in the backyard tent). Plus our Answers Magazine arrived!
Baking: 1. SunButter No Bake Cookie Bites | 2. Last weekend’s Lime Cake for a cousin’s wedding | 3. Middle Girl made microwave fudge | 4. Mom’s Homeschool lunch: grilled quesadilla with avocado and hummus.
Helpful Habit: Keeping up the habit of sharing a helpful habit, this week I’m pointing you to an excellent article by an author over at Passionate Purposeful Parenting: Teach Kids to Add Energy to Family Life . I applied the wisdom in this article to our week. Plus, I asked the Lord for specific wisdom on other challenges in our homeschool. He answered. He provided. As He always does. Why am I always surprised?
This Friday afternoon we’ve made some neat watercolor mosaic art work we’ll share about later. And we’re going to watch the Story of Pixar. Hodgepodgedad and I watched it last night. A good documentary on the history of Pixar, their partnership with Disney, computer animation and Steve Jobs’ investment. I know the children will enjoy hearing how Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Cars and The Incredibles were made! Look it up on Netflix. Current events!
Many thanks to our Friday hostesses… Camera Phone Friday hostess Dawn Camp @ My Home Sweet Home and…
Weekly Wrap-Up hostess Kris at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers.
Let’s hear it for surviving FOUR science projects!! Time to celebrate with an afternoon coffee drink!
