The Many Adventures of a 21-month-old

~In honor of the third blogoversary of Hodgepodge this month, I’ll be occasionally posting favorites from the archives. This one, from August 2007, was written a year before blogging…

The Many Adventures of a 21-month-old

Since the early a.m. I have:

  • dumped out the contents of the electric pencil sharpener and decorated my legs with the pencil shavings…
  • drawn on big sister’s Math page with the blue crayon I found in the classroom floor…
  • lost my juice cup but Mama fixed me another…
  • sprinkled juice all over the family room and the chess pieces I scattered because the juice cup didn’t have a stopper…
  • demanded “I need more cookies!”…
  • taken sister’s macaroni & cheese from the fridge, declaring I wanted it for lunch…
  • noticed when Mama said to put the macaroni back, she was distracted…
  • eaten all my lunch but needed “more cookies!” (notice the face)…
  • led Mama around to the foyer for something else and look there’s the mac & cheese on the front staircase…

AND when Mama went to get a new bottle of juice from the garage because, “I need juice!”…Mama found the juice cup I put through the cat door a few hours ago…

Gotta go I’m running down the hall away from Mama with a computer CD held tightly in my hand…

Love, 21-mo-old (and her Mama needing the comic relief of typing this)

“Motherhood is the longest-running, continuous production of your life. Every day. Seven days a week. It doesn’t matter if it’s SRO or an empty house: You play to it. It doesn’t matter if the critics love or hate your performance. The show never closes. Every day you climb into your costume and do the best you can, writing the script as you go along.”
~Erma Bombeck

So glad I wrote it down. Counting the gifts of motherhood plus…

  • my mixed feelings over littlest boy growing up – potty trained, paci put away and needing a favorite blanket only at bedtime. So proud of him but *sniff*
  • late night talks with our eldest two.
  • Sunday afternoon visits with lots of family.
  • the hope of a new school year stretching ahead.
  • a 15-year-old kitty on the mend.
  • fun spots on the web. Join me on Google + and Pinterest?
  • Heart of the Matter Online Conference starting next Monday!

Counting gifts 2583-2596.

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.
