The Passing of Two Pots

This post, from December 2009 has new meaning. New meaning because yet another slow cooker has passed. It became a cracked pot. Slow cooked meals for two years in the fancy pot with the timer. This is a big deal because I depend on that slow cooker many times a week. Plus there’s the twice monthly slow cooker batch cooking. Time for a new one. But, thankfully unlike two years ago, the coffee pot still holds its own…
It is with mixed emotions that we recognize the passing of two great pots. First, our faithful crock pot of two years. You gave us deliciosity at least 104 times or more.

That is until you became a crack pot.

We bid you goodbye when you started to boil and fry. Our meals were no longer slow cooked.

And on the same day your replacement arrived, all shiny and new…

…Ye ol’ trusty coffee pot produced – sludge stew. EW! Though two men tore you apart and studied your very heart, alas… they could not save you.

So to the Sam’s Club they went and came back with a new friend. One that could grind, program and make custom blends.

Breakdowns and repairs usually come ‘round here in twos. So to two former pots… we now bid you adieu.

And for the Christmas present, dear family, we say thank you.

Then we’re off to start a new brew!

Counting the gifts of appliances. Those household helpers that help fed and infuse caffeine. Plus…

  • little, heart-shaped leaves appearing on the red bud in the front yard
  • irises with buds ready to burst, turning their long stems toward the sun
  • children singing in big church
  • a glorious weekend of friends, song, encouragement, challenge  and renewal at Apologia Live

Counting #3076-3083.

So what type of new slow cooker do you think we should get this time around? Should I get a basic, programmable slow cooker like I’ve enjoyed (loved that thing) the last two years or a customizable crock pot with photos? Please share any slow cooker opinions!

About Hodgepodgemom

Tricia faces a daily dose of chaos homeschooling five children. The biggest lesson she’s learned? At the end of the day – when the dishes are put away and the children are tucked in bed – truly what matters is each child’s relationship with the Lord. Raising children is a God-given privilege and, folks, the time is short.

I agree Cindy – very cool. I also like having an insert you can take out and stick in the dishwasher. And I sure did depend on that timer. Best. feature. ever.

Our crockpot just cracked too ~ after about 2 years. Fortunately our last one was recalled because of an electrical issue, so we didn’t have to pay for the one 2 years ago…but we did last week. 🙂 I bought a new one fairly similar off Amazon {didn’t go digital through}. I DID get one with a black insert though so the stains don’t show up as badly!

AND our Keurig started trickling…so it was off to Costco for the upgraded version of that as well. Apparently it’s a grand conspiracy between crock pots and coffee makers…

Yes, a grand conspiracy! They come in twos…And, I’m thankful this last one lasted two years! The one pictured at top was the one before our last. Our latest was a black insert like yours Jolanthe. I will be browsing. Thanks for the suggestions!
